I’m Your Girl

Whew 15 years!

Congratulations to me? Thanks, I guess….

Full disclosure

I had to do some serious self-reflection and forgiveness today when LinkedIn reminded me, I launched Your Girl Inc 15 years ago.

What? Wait! I haven’t made any money. It’s hard to celebrate. 15 years, I was living in Atlanta when I incorporated, with my mom’s help. She paid Legal Zoom I was supposed to do the rest.

I got my first non-family client in 2006 when Jim Veilleux from Virtuallogger reached out for a virtual assistant. 2008 wasn’t kind. Lost the truck almost lost the house, I had to get a full-time, direct deposit job. Jim and I kept in touch.

In 2013, when I decided that I was the best freaking Administrative, Communications & Operations professional in America (the ACO package and yes, America) I left those thankless folks and relaunched Your Girl Inc. again full time.

My first client this time was actually another Virtual Assistant provider in March 2014. I was the Virtual Assistant to a Virtual Assistant. Virtuallogger signed up again and I added a couple more clients. It seemed to be going well until one company couldn’t pay and the others needed minimal hours. I was also more on-site and less virtual than I should have been. I was basically a mobile admin. Not what I envisioned.

2016 still in the red. A client needed permanent help and we need health insurance. Where do I signup?

May 2019 – It’s not you, it’s me.

July 1, 2019, I relaunched again. But the memories. Yes, I have looked for a full-time, direct deposit job several times since then, but we all know that’s not my destiny. It wasn’t until September 29, 2019, that I realized I have everything I need to be a successful business owner. I can do this. I can persevere through the turbulent times. Through the lack of paying clients (Ooh 2 startups). I can do this without worry. I will still travel. I will still pay all my bills in full and on time. I will still give of my time, talent and treasure. I will succeed.
